Assistant Coaches
Work with and manage. Guide them to be the best coach they can.
Practice
- Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 10:30 am (times may vary).
- In accordance with lifeguard restrictions available coaches should be in the water coaching swimmers. Swim strokes, flip turns, diving of the block, and relay transitions should all be taught.
- Fun Friday takes place at the same time as practice with the kids playing age appropriate games in the water and receiving donuts at the end of practice.
Meets
- Tuesday & Thursday 4:15 pm – 9:30 pm (times may vary).
- All administrative duties must be completed by 4 pm on meet days (list will be provided).
- Show up before swimmers and set up boards.
- WIN, WIN, WIN - or at least try!
Extras
- Kickoff Meeting
- Practice Meets
- Skill Clinics
- Team Activities (times will be discussed before finalized)
- Fire-up Dinner (the Friday before League Meet)
- Swim Banquet (immediately following League Meet, at Fairway Farms)
- Attend Presidents Meeting and the Coaches Meeting
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- CPR & AED Certified
- Lifeguard Certification
- Pass a Criminal Background Check
Administrative Tasks
- Learn SISL rules.
- Input swimmer information into Team Manager and become familiar with Team Manager.
- Track swimmer availability using the registration form.
- Track swimmers’ best times.
- Create swim line-up ensuring every swimmer participates in 2 -3 events in each meet in accordance with the rules.
- Be sure there are 30 or less exhibition heats.
- Consult with coach from opposing team by 3 pm the day before to be sure exhibition heats line up.
- Enter 8 dual meets into Team Manager.
- Generate heat sheets, event sheets, print and label cards for all events and organize in card box.
- Make copies of heat sheets for all coaches.
- Create event board at all meets.
- Track Fairway records and update.
- Changes can be made up until the meet starts must know what to do if a swimmer can not attend a meet last minute.
- Barracuda of the Week.
- League Meet – follow all rules of SISL, set up line up and enter into Team Manager.
- Banquet - Towels for swimmers 18+ and last year of swimming embroidered with names, paper plate awards for every swimmer (or another award), speech.
Please know while this is the majority of the job description there may be other tasks assigned, within reason.
