Pool Annual Inspection

Once per season, unannounced, the county will arrive at the club to perform an inspection.

The list below is adopted from the "Swimming Pool Annual Inspection Checklist" provided by Wayne County. The items on the checklist must be completed prior to the annual inspection. Items on the checklist not applicable to our pool have been removed. The list below is to be used for reference purposes only.

General

  • The pool license (issued by Michigan EGLE) is valid.

Water Quality

  • The measured pH is between 7.2 and 7.8.
  • The chlorine residuals are stable at 1.0 to 3.0 ppm or the chlorinated cyanurate is at 2.0 to 4.0 ppm (assumes 20 to 40 ppm of cyanuric acid).
  • A disinfectant and pH test kit (complete with fresh chemicals) is available at the pool site.

Pool Functionality

  • The main drains are in good condition and visible from 30 feet away.
  • The pool sides and bottom are clean and in good condition.
  • The gutters are functioning properly.
  • 80% of the total flow (into the surge tank) is via the gutters and 20% is from the main drains.
  • The pumps and filters are working properly.
  • An extra strainer basket is available.
  • The chlorinator is capable of continuous operation 24 hours a day (assume as needed?).
  • The pressure gauges at the filters are working properly.
  • The flow meter is functioning properly and the flow rate is adequate to meet the required turnover rate.

Personnel

  • A qualified person is available onsite or can arrive on-call within 15 minutes.
    • The operator is able to test the pool water and backwash the filter.
    • The contact person’s telephone number is available at the pool.

Signs

  • The bather load limit and operating rules are posted.

Facility

  • A properly operating emergency telephone is available during operating hours.
  • The name of the club, street address and dialing directions are available at the telephone.
